Our founding and anchoring members are the individuals and institutions who shaped the Climate Educators Network from the ground up.

They played a pivotal role in defining our mission, goals, and structure — and continue to be the core force guiding the network’s evolution.

Dr. Sunayana Ganguly

Sunayana Ganguly is a political scientist passionate about how people, policies, and ideas can come together to shape a more sustainable future. She co-founded the Climate Educator Network to connect educators, practitioners, and learners who are reimagining climate education.

With a PhD from Freie University, an MSc in Development Studies from the London School of Economics, and a BA in English Literature from St. Stephen’s College, Sunayana brings a unique blend of perspectives—spanning politics, policy, and storytelling. Her career has taken her from think tanks in India and Germany to the classrooms of Azim Premji University and National Law School where she taught and researched environmental politics, sustainable consumption, and qualitative methods. She is the author of Deliberating Environment Policy in India: Participation and the Role of Advocacy – a book that explores how collective action and public participation have influenced key environmental policies in India. At the heart of her work is a deep interest in how citizens, educators, and communities can work together to address the climate crisis with creativity, care, and collaboration

Dr. Jayanti Ray-Mukherjee

Jayanti is a plant ecologist with a PhD from Utah State University, USA. She is a faculty member at Azim Premji University and an educator who is keenly interested in biology and climate change education. Over the past eight years, she has been actively involved in curriculum and resource development. As an active researcher, she is interested to understand how plants cope with stress, particularly under climate change. She is also interested in questions related to conservation and restoration and to know how the gap between science and practice can be bridged.

Shreelata Krishnan

Kolkata, India

With over two decades of experience spanning hospitality, telecom, and entrepreneurship, I’ve cultivated a unique skill set in driving social impact and sustainable development. As the co-founder of Desi Origins, I facilitated last-mile connectivity for rural and semi-urban communities. My work with esteemed national and international organizations like Viridian Accelerator, Cherie Blair Foundation, and Miller Centre for Social Entrepreneurship reflects my commitment to sustainability, climate change engagement, and capacity building. Recently, before joining the School of Policy and Governance, I served as a Community, Climate, and Biodiversity (CCB) Expert at Boomitra, winner of the Earthshot Prize 2023, “Fix Our Climate.” Additionally, my consultancy in Aberdeen, Scotland, involved circular economic projects, sustainability roadmaps, and community engagement strategies for climate action. I am a CPD certified Green Champion & a CSR Professional.

Dr. Rahul Chopra

Pune, India

Dr. Rahul Chopra is the Director of the Centre for Sustainability, Environment, and Climate Change and an Associate Professor of Environmental Studies at FLAME University, India. He is also the project director of a Global Climate Change Education Project of the International Union of Biological Sciences that aims to integrate climate change education into the curriculum worldwide. With a Ph.D. from the University of Chicago, USA, he has multidisciplinary interests ranging from curriculum development to data-driven and field-based research in geological and environmental studies.

Sanjana Singh

Pune, India

Sanjana Singh is a climate expert with a Master’s from United Nations University, Tokyo in Sustainability Science. She is leading the FutureEd Lab at the Centre of Sustainability, Environment, and Climate Change at FLAME University and has been part of Project TROP ICSU since 2021. Sanjana has worked closely with educators, training them in climate change education and making them content creators. She has also created and curated many climate resources across all disciplines and has written several Lesson Plans. She has also co-authored several research papers and book chapters

Midhili Ravikumar

Bengaluru, India

Midhili is committed to air pollution reduction and climate education, holding a Master’s in Sustainability from the University of Sydney. Based in Bangalore and originally from Kerala, she has worked with various networks to promote air quality and climate action. Passionate about social equity and the environment, she explores waste reduction through sustainable menstruation, home composting, and minimalism. In her free time, she enjoys reading, traveling, singing, and dancing.

Arjun Atreya

Bengaluru, India

Arjun is a programme coordinator for the climate and education programme at Asar Social Impact Advisors. As an advocate for equity and social justice, Arjun holds a Master’s degree in Development from Azim Premji University and a Bachelor’s in Economics from Cotton University. With a keen interest in climate change, gender, and labor studies, he has previously interned with women’s rights organizations. In his leisure time, Arjun enjoys reading manga, watching anime, and relaxing with his cats.

Pallavi Phatak

Chennai, India

Pallavi Phatak is an educationist with extensive experience in teaching, curriculum development, teacher education, and education research. She currently leads the Climate & Education program at Asar Social Impact Advisors – a core partner of the Climate Educators Network. Passionate about transformative learning, she has taught and developed curriculum at school (The School, KFI) and university (Azim Premji University), developed and lead programmes around curriculum and teacher education in NGOs and start-ups, advised on education research (IIT-Madras), and worked with education institutions around culture and leadership practice.

Sanchit Sant

Pune, India

Sanchit Sant is a Research Associate at the Centre for Sustainability, Environment, and Climate Change, FLAME University. He is a member of Project TROP ICSU, a Climate Change Education Project of the International Union of Biological Sciences and FLAME University, contributing to climate education content and teacher training. His work focuses on developing climate awareness materials for middle and high school students and facilitating teacher workshops. He also uses Theatre Education and Experiential Learning to enhance life skills, communication, and social-emotional learning.

Karishma Khemlani

Mumbai, India

Karishma is a digital communications strategist with over 12 years of experience shaping narratives and building brand identities across global luxury brands and leading agencies like Ogilvy. With a strong foundation in storytelling and a deep fluency in digital culture, she has worked across platforms, trends, and ever-evolving algorithms. Today, she brings that creative and strategic lens to the climate and social justice space—crafting campaigns that inform, engage, and mobilize. She is also an advocate for mental health and invisible disabilities.
